External Scan

This article explains how to run an External Scan in Cynomi to identify publicly visible cybersecurity risks, including SSL/TLS issues, domain misconfigurations, and exposed ports.

What Is the External Scan?

The External Scan is a built-in tool that scans your client’s public-facing IPs and URLs. It delivers fast, high-level insights to validate configurations and detect potential risks.

What It Checks

  • SSL certificates (validity, expiration)

  • TLS protocol support

  • WHOIS status and phishing blacklists

  • DNS records (SPF, DMARC, DNSSEC)

  • Open or high-risk ports

  • WAF presence and HTTP to HTTPS redirection

How to Run

  1. Go to the Scans page.

  2. Click New Scan → Select External Scan.

  3. Enter your client’s external IPs or domain names.

  4. Click Run Scan.

⚡ Results are usually available within minutes and can be used for sales demos or remediation validation.
