This article explains how to assign a task owner in Cynomi. It outlines how ownership helps manage accountability and includes important notes about assigning tasks to external users.

What Is a Task Owner?

A task owner is the individual responsible for completing or overseeing the implementation of a given task.

Assigning task owners ensures:

  • Clear accountability

  • Effective collaboration

  • Progress tracking

How to Assign an Owner

  1. Open a task in the Tasks page.

  2. In the Task Owner field, assign:

    • An existing user

    • Or an unlisted email (external team member)

Permissions & Role Notes

  • Service provider users can assign themselves or others.

  • Company users cannot assign service provider users unless granted extra permissions.

To allow this:

  1. Go to User Management Panel.

  2. Click User Actions → Edit.

  3. Add role and permission for the user to the additional company.

Visibility in Reports

Task owners appear in the client’s Security Report, helping with visibility during stakeholder reviews or audits.
